The final day of group matches were held today for the Irish Juniors playing in the World IBSF U-21 Snooker Championship here in Bucharest in Romania. The Knock out draw for the last 64 will be made after the final 10am session tomorrow morning.
Today Stephen Bateman was beaten by Florian Nuessle from Austria 4 frames to 1 but the Kilkenny man finished second in his group after five great wins earlier in the group.
Josh Boileau continued their winning run to stay unbeaten with a 4 frames to nil victory over Ales Herout from Czech Republic and he will be among the top seeds for the knock out draw.
Adam Fitzgerald from Youghal CYMS played the top player in his group Brian Cini from Malta. Adam played a great match but he was beaten 4 frames to 3 in an exciting match. Adam will not qualify for the knock outs but the experience will stand to him for the future.
Aaron Moyles from Mayo lost his final group match 4 frames to 1 to Daepuy Lee from South Korea but Aaron is assured of his qualification to the knock out draw
Shane Bates from the 147 Club in Wexford won his final group match 4 frames to nil which included a superb 88 break and 55 against Rares Vasile from Romania to reach the knock out stages after a great display in the groups.
As National Coach I am delighted with four RIBSA players in the knock out stages as the standard was very high this year. Disappointed for Adam but he will be back. The players will give it 100% in the last 64 round tomorrow and as soon as the draw is done it will be up the ribsa site.
