The third day of the World IBSF U-21 Snooker Championship was another good day for our Irish Juniors with five wins out of six matches in The Caro Hotel in Bucharest in Romania.
Adam Fitzgerald from Youghal CYMS had a great day with a superb 4 frames to 1 over Mostafa Dorgham from Egypt to record his first victory in the event.
Shane Bates from the 147 Club in Wexford had two hard matches today. He was beaten 4 frames to 2 by Abdelrahman Shahin from Egypt, but he managed to win a great match at night when he came back behind to beat Vilius Schulte from Lithuania 4 frames to 3.
Aaron Moyles again impressed again with a 4 frames to 2 victory over Viktor Lliev from Bulgaria as the Mayo man had to come back from 1-2 down.
Josh Boileau played an excellent match when he beat Maciej Kusack from Poland making breaks of 47, 55, 83 and 44 in a 4 frames to 2 victory to stay unbeaten in the championship.
Stephen Bateman continued his winning ways to record his fourth straight victory when he beat Matei Rosca from Romania 4 frames to 2. He is now top of the group.
As National Coach I am proud of all the players again today. Each one is playing great and representing our Association and country with pride and that is all I can ask for. The players are already focused on their matches on Day 4 which starts at 10am local time.
