The second day of the World IBSF U-21 Snooker Championship was another good day for our Irish Juniors with three wins out five matches in The Caro Hotel in Bucharest in Romania.
Shane Bates from the 147 Club in Wexford got us off to a great start with a 4 frames to 2 victory over Eduard Agapie from Romania. That is two out of two for the Wexford man.
Aaron Moyles was beaten by one of the favourites for the title when he was beaten by Wang Yuchen from China 4 frames to nil. But again the Mayo man played a good match.
Josh Boileau played next and won 4 frames to nil against Matheus Fatuch Pontarolli from Brazil with a top break of 60 to stay unbeaten in the event.
Adam Fitzgerald lost again but he played a great match when he was beaten by Rodion Judin from Latvia 4 frames to 3 but the Youghal man had his chances but he is getting valuable experience playing in his first major championship.
Stephen Bateman finished in style when he beat the National French Men’s Champions Neil Vincent 4 frames to 2 to record his third straight victory in the event
As National Coach I am delighted to see our players playing with so much confidence as the standard is very high. The players are already focused on their matches on Day 3 which starts at 10am local time.
