Josh Boileau from Ireland won the Celtic Under 21 Junior Open in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Sunday the 21st June. This open event will featured Irish and Welsh players battle it out for the title. This open Handicap system was Under 21 players Scratch, Under 16 players +10 and Under 14 players +16.
Irish players Josh Boileua and Noel Landers reached the semi-finals along with Welsh players Tyler Rees and Dylan Emery after the four players played outstanding snooker.
In the Semi Finals Josh Boileau beat Noel Landers 2-0 while Tyler Rees beat Dylan Emery 2-1 in great matches.
Both Josh and Tyler will be among the top junior players in Romania next month when they will be competing in the World U-21’s and In the final both players played awesome snooker but it was Josh who won the opening frame but Tyler fought back to level but it was the Irishman who won the final frame to win the match 2 frames to 1 in a superb final.
Irish National Coach PJ Nolan was TD for the event and he was very impressed with the talent on show over the weekend and the future looks good in Wales and Ireland.
The high break was made by Fergal Quinn 71, Noel Landers had 57 and Josh Boileau had 55, 51, 55 59,
The Plate event was won by Jackson Page from Wales when he beat Alfie Davies 2-1 in the final.
Prize Fund
The winner received €160.00, R-Up received €80.00, Beaten Semi Finalists €40 each. Plate Winner €15.00 and Plate Runner Up €10.00
