Day 9 of the 2015 EBSA European Snooker Championship featured the knock out stages of both the Masters and Men’s Championship here in Prague and after all the last 32 matches were played RIBSA have one player remaining in the last 16 of the Men’s Championship and two players left in the last 16 of the Masters Championships.
Men’s Last 64
Earlier in the day in the last 64 round of the Mens event John O Sullivan was beaten by Robert Carlisle from Scotland 4 frames to 1 in a match that was much closer than 4-1 sounds. Greg Casey had a good win over Antti Tolvanen from Finland 4 frames to nil while Brendan O Donoghue beat Simonas Dragunas from Lithuania 4 frames to nil.
Men’s Last 64
In the last 32 tonight Greg Casey was beaten by Shachar Ruberg from Israel in a match that was delayed over 1hr 30min and a few of the frames were decided on the colours. Brendan O Donoghue put on a great display to beat Sam Thomas from Wales 4 frames to nil.
Men’s Last 16
Brendan will now face Jamie Clarke from Wales in the last 16 tomorrow with the winner playing Brian Cini or Jason Peplow from Malta in the Q-Finals on Friday.
Masters Last 32
Our three master players Keith Sheldrick, Tom O Driscoll and Alen Matic were all in action in the last 32 today and it was Keith Sheldreck who beat Graham Beardmore from England 4 frames to 1 in a superb display.
Next it was Tom O Driscoll when he played Bernhard Müllner from Austria and the match went all the way to the decider until the Austrian made a 72 break to seal victory. Finally it was Alen Matic who ended the night on a high for the Irish when he beat Yakov Shaashuashvili from Israel 4 frames to 1 in a good match.
Masters Last 16
Keith Sheldreck will now play the Number 1 seed Elfed Evans from Wales tomorrow and Alen Matic will play the number 3 seed Joris Maas from the Netherland in the last 16.
