15 players took to the green baize on Saturday for the 5 Intermediate tournament of the season in the North West snooker club in Letterkenny. There was a notable absence of top ranked players but players did travel from Kilkenny, Dublin, Wicklow and Sligo. With a strong local field all of the seeded players were knocked out at the last sixteen stage.
The lineup for the quarters saw Ronan Whyte defeat Garry Spencer 3/1 and Peter Donegan overcome Andrew Doherty 3/2. In the bottom half of the draw Aidan Devenney defeated Eamon Harkin 3/1 and Sean Devannay went down to Sean Mc Veigh 3/1.
In the semi final’s Peter Donegan moved past Ronan Whyte 3/1 and Aidan Devenney reached the final with a 3/0 victory over Sean Mc Veigh.
The final was a super match with Aidan knocking in breaks of 56, 60, 45 and 42. Peter Donegan was also in great form for the final and had breaks of 64, 56 and a clearence of 81 in the final frame to win the tournament.
Well done to Peter Donegan from the North West Snooker Club for winning the RIBSA Intermediate No.5 Snooker Ranking Tournaments of the season which was held in the Northwest Snooker Club in Letterkenny on Saturday the 21st of February 2015.
