Mark Tuite will play later today in the Semi Finals of the Masters European Snooker Championships here in Bulgaria after our two other Irish players of Tom Gleeson and Tom O Driscoll were beaten this morning in the Ramada Hotel, Bulgaria.
Mark Tuite played Rune Kampe from Denmark but from the first ball Tuite was focused. He went 3 nil up and his opponent pulled one back only for the Killarney man to win the fifth frame. In frame six Kampe made a 67 break to look like pulling one back, only for Tuite to make a fantastic 69 Clearance to steal the frame and match 5 frames to 1. He will now play Darren Morgan.
Tom Gleeson was up against defending Champion Darren Morgan from Wales. Tom never got started in the first four frames but after the Interval the Nenagh man made a fantastic 109 break but in the end it was too late as the Welsh man ran out a 5 frames to 1 victory.
Tom played amazing here this week to win his group and it took the defending champion to take him out. Tom is a model pro for any player who wants to play for Ireland as he has a passion and gives it 100% . Well done and next year we will be back Tommy!!!
Tom O Driscoll faced Number 1 seed Jamie Bodle from England. Tom lost the first but won the second. His English opponent then went 3-1 up at the Interval but back came O Driscoll again to close the gap to 2-3. Next two frames he never got a chance and was beaten 5 frames to 2.
Tom O Driscoll played excellent in his first major singles International event and he should be very proud of himself and the future is looking good for the Waterford man as he has the game for these International events.
As National Coach I am so pleased for Mark and disappointed for the two Tommy’s. Everyone of them were superb and we will now be cheering on Mark in the semi finals
Come On Ireland!!!!
