The early rounds of the 2014 Irish Snooker Championships got underway at 10am here in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow with a number of fantastic matches. All matches are best of 7 frames and the cream of the Irish game are here trying to qualify for the last 16 which will be played during RIBSA Championship weekend on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of May.
Two of the best matches this morning involved two of our RIBSA young hot shots when they played against experienced players. Aaron Tobin from Youghal CYMS was up against John Sutton from Terry Rogers SC and Josh Boileau from Newbridge CYMS was up against Tom Gleeson from the New Institute SC.
It was a good day for our Juniors when Josh Boileau made a 137 break and won his match 4 frames to 2 to set up his final qualifying match against Mark Tuite or David Cassidy later today. Aaron Tobin also won 4 frames to 3 to set up a final qualifying round match against Ryan Cronin.
The High Break so far is Josh Boileau with his fantastic 137 Break.
More updates will be made throughout the day and play will continue all day today here in Carlow in finding 8 qualifiers and we start again at 10am tomorrow with the bottom half of the draw to find the other 8 qualifiers
