The final ladies ranking event of the season was held in Q’s S.C. on Sunday 23rd March. The 1st semi-final was between Annette Newman and Emirjeta Doda. Annette won the 1st frame comfortably, but the 2nd frame was a battle to the black ball. Emirjeta got the 1st good chance to pot it into the green pocket but narrowly missed the pot and left Annette on to take an easy black and go 2-0 ahead. Annette then went on to win the next frame and take the match 3-0.
The 2nd semi-final seen Michelle French take on Claire Mill. Michelle’s long potting was excellent in the 1st frame but Claire won the frame on the brown when Michelle conceded needing 2 snookers. Claire won the 2nd frame on the blue to go 2-0 ahead. The 3rd frame was a bit scrappy, but Claire held her nerve and won the frame to book herself a place in the final with Annette.
The 1sr frame in the final was tight, but Claire eventually won it on the blue. The 2nd frame was a safety battle throughout from both players with Claire winning it on the pink. Claire held a lead throughout the 3rd frame, and after she pot the brown with Annette already needing snookers; Annette conceeded the frame and match.
Congratulations to Claire on winning her 1st ranking event of the season. Thanks to Q’s for the use of their facilities on the day and Don for his help.
