Well done to Team Ireland who played in the European Men’s and in the Masters Team Championship here in Bucharest, Romania this week.
Ireland 1 Men’s Team of Robert Murphy & Michael Judge, Ireland 2 Men’s Team of Jason Devaney & Rodney Goggins both played excellent snooker but were both beaten in the Q Finals.
Well done to Robert Murphy on winning the highest break prize with a superb 115 break. It is the third time in a row the Monkstown man won the high break prize in the EBSA Team Championships.
Ireland 2 Masters Team of Tony Seymour & Tom O Driscoll and Ireland 3 Master Team of Stephen Walsh & Alen Matic were beaten in the last 16 of the Masters Championship. Defending Champions Ireland 1 Masters Team of Mark Tuite & Anthony Bonnar put up a brave attempt before losing to the eventual winners Wales in the semi finals. Well done Anthony & Mark on 3rd Place this year.
It was a pleasure to coach and the Teams in this Championship as everyone represented our country with pride and honour. I just want to say I was very proud of them all.
RIBSA Referees performed excellent in the event with Ger Murray and Neil Shanahan refereeing and tutoring the other referees during the event. Jim Leacy President of the IBSF was on hand to cheer on all the players and was here in Romania planning future IBSF events.
