The first Masters Ranking Event took place in the Ivy Rooms Carlow on 15th September. Play commenced at 11am with 35 players. We have a few new faces contesting this year with Cathy Dunne representing the ladies. New to the fold are Adrian Morrissey, Ger McGann, Tom O’Driscoll, Nicky Ryan, Anthony O’Connor, Stephen Walsh, Michael Casey, Eugene Wall and Paul Griffin. Joe Delaney and Eamonn Kelly made a return after been missing in action for the last few years.
After a long grulling day’s play Nigel Power emerged the eventual winner with a 3-1 win over Brendan Cooney. All Nigel’s matches were 3-1 wins, firstly against Freddie Chute, then Alen Matic, John Connolly, Tom Gleeson and finally Brendan Cooney.
Brendan Beat Cathy Dunne 3-1 in his first round match, then Stephen Walsh 3-2; Anthony O’Connor 3-2; and Michael Casey 3-1.
Tom Gleeson had the highest breat of the tournament with 73.
