The first day of RIBSA level 1 Coaching Ireland Coaching Education Course was held today in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Saturday 6th of July.
The four coaches were Stephen Walsh from Carrick on Suir, Murt Rossiter from Breakers SC Gorey, Finbarr Ruane from Crossguns SC Dublin and Sandra Bryan from Breakers SC Gorey attended the course given by PJ Nolan on the ( Role Of Coaches + Playing Techniques ) and Neil Shanahan ( Rules of the Game ).
This two day training course is for RIBSA Coaches who have already completed the Intro Level course in the past. This level course covers the coaching skills in helping the coaches identify what is needed to start training players to a level 1 standard.
The course started at 10am and ran until 1pm. Lunch was from 1pm-2pm and the Restart was 2pm to 6pm. All the Coaches will return tomorrow to Carlow to complete the course on planning a session for players of all standards.
The full course cost was €30.00 which included soup and sandwich on both days. All the coaches need to be paid up members of the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association for the 2013 / 2014 season and membership forms were available on the day at €10.00.
RIBSA / Coaching Ireland Tutors Neil Shanahan gave a seminar on the Rules of the Game and set up situations that might happen during matches involving future students of the coaches. PJ Nolan covered the player and coach pathways plus developing good fundamentals in the players playing technique.
The next step for the coaches is to attend a sport partnership 3 hr basic awareness course and a two night Children’s Officer Course organised by their local sports authority through the Sports Council.
All the coaches will finally need to be Garda vetted before being presented with their Level 1 Accreditation Certificate and have their details on our Web Site as Level 1 Coaches.
