The 6th RIBSA Senior Ranking event of the season ‘The Grand Prix’ is being played this weekend in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow. There was a number of outstanding matches and performances from our leading and up and coming players on Saturday.
In the Last 32 Greg Casey from Cork had a superb win over David Morris 3 frames to 2, 10 year old Corey Ramsbottom reached the last 16 with a fantastic 3 frames to nil victory over Mark Owens and John Sutton from Celbridge had a great win over Martin McCrudden in the Last 16 with a splendid 3 frames to 1 win.
Current Number 1 David Hogan was beaten by Rodney Goggins in a thriller 4 frames to 3 in the Q-Finals. Brendan O Donoghue beat John Sutton 4 frames to nil in a great display. Josh Boileau beat last month’s ranking winner Michael Judge 4 frames to 2 in one of his best ever wins.
The last Q-Final was between Daniel Dempsey and Robert Redmond and despite Daniel leading two frames to nil Redmond came back to win 4 frames to 2 to seal his Semi Final place.

It promises to be another day of top class snooker in the Semi Finals and it all starts at 11am with the final scheduled for around 2pm in Carlow.
