The final line up for the second Ranking Points Tournament (RPT) saw the return of Michael Judge after 20 years on the professional circuit against Brendan O Donoghue who also spent a short time with the professional’s. The first frame saw Michael get off to a flying start with a break of 69 and taking the frame 103 points to 0. Brendan fought back in a close second frame to win 69/58. Although Brendan was playing well he did missed some easy shots and Michael was quick to punish him every time.
Michael’s vast experience saw him snatch the next four frames in a row to win the Tournament 5 frames to 1. With two different finalists in this tournament the rankings will be very tight going into the next RPT in Carlow on the 8th and 9th of December.
The next RPT is in a Double Elimination format with all the players getting a second chance up to the final stages.
RIBSA would like to thank the North West Snooker club for the use of the excellent facilities and especially John Doherty (tournament director) and the referee’s Bernard Mc Guinness and Peter O Brien.
