Rebel Snooker Week 6
Monday, 31 October 2011
by Admin
IT Has been another busy and active week in the Cork Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) area as the CBSA league resumed and Youghal CYMS ‘A’made it five wins out of five and retain their spot on top of the league table with a home win over the AOH. Youghal CYMS were impressive 8 – 4 winners over the travelling ‘Morrison’s Island’ men in Youghal last Thursday night with big wins from Adrian Landersand Brendan Cooney, who both won their games by three frames to nil. Shane O’Mahony looks to be getting back to near his best with a three frames win forthe AOH, but Aaron Tobin defeated Lloyd Myers by two frames to one frame to secure the eighth frame needed for victory. Youghal CYMS ‘A’ at the moment look very hard to beat at home and even at this very early stage you would have to say that Youghal CYMS ‘A’ and theCrucible look the front runners for league honours. The Crucible spent their third match in this years league with an eight frames to one frame over Douglas ‘B’. The home side were in terrific form with GregCasey knocking in a 75 break en-rout to a three nil win Gary O’Sullivan, Ciaran and Ryan Cronin were also winners. The Crucible have been foot perfect sofar in the league and look very tough to beat, especially at home. The story of the week as far as the leagues are concerned has to the Youghal CYMS ‘C’ victory over Youghal CYMS ‘B’ last Wednesday night. This was areal shock result and it shows the level of practice and indeed the high standard at the Youghal Club. It all started with Kenny Wight of the Youghal ‘C’ side who had an impressive 3-0 win over Ian Hennessy. Eric Hassan kept things going for the third tier side with a 2-1 win over Trevor Flaherty, Chris Lyons got the Youghal ‘B’ side back on track with a 3-0 winover Reece Roche, but when Eddie Hickey had a 2-1 win over the ‘B’ sides Stephen Kelly it all came down to the final table. William Kelly of the Youghal ‘B’ side won the first to frames to level the match at seven frames each, but Lee Walsh shook the odds with a deciding frame winto give the Youghal ‘C’ side an away victory and three points. Week 5 CBSA Results Youghal CYMS ‘A’ 8 – 4 AOH Aaron Tobin 2 – 1 Lloyd Myers Brendan Cooney 3 – 0 Sonny Stack Ger Kelly 0 – 3 Shane O’Mahony Adrian Landers 3 – 0 Kevin O’Leary Derek Aherne Tim Murphy The Crucible 8 – 1 Douglas ‘B’ Greg Casey 3 – 0 Tony Murphy Garry O’Sullivan 2 – 1 Ken Smyth Ciaran Cronin 2 – 0 Brian McKerry Ryan Cronin 1 – 0 Evan O’Leary Youghal CYMS ‘B’ 7 – 8 Youghal CYMS ‘C’ Trevor Flaherty 1 – 2 Eric Hassan Chris Lyons 3 – 0 Reece Roche Stephen Kelly 1 – 2 Eddie Hickey Ian Hennessy 0 – 3 Kenny Wight William Kelly 2 – 1 Lee Walsh CBSA League Table after
