Day five of the 2011 IBSF World under 21 snooker championships here in Montreal Canada had four more wins for our Republic Of Ireland snooker players. First up was Greg Casey who was looking for his fifth win a row but he was beaten by Laurens De Staelen from Belgium 4 frames to nil.
Next up was David Cassidy after his famous win over Thailand yesterday was another difficult opponent in Andreas Ploner from Austria who had beaten Mitchell Travis from England in the championship.
The young Cork man again played great snooker and showed his fighting qualities with a top break of 71 in a 4 frames to 2 victory. Jason Devaney played his best snooker today in beating Adrien Frostin from France in 50 minutes 4 frames to nil with breaks of 45, 48, 49, 82
Vincent Muldoon again showed why he is one of the favorites for the title with another superb performance in beating Maximilian Pfieger from Austria 4 frames to 1 with a string of breaks including a top break of 104.
This was Muldoon’s fourth century in the championship and it was so easily almost a 147 break in frame 5 when he made 10 reds and 10 blacks before coming bridging over a red.
Last up was Greg Casey in his second match of the day when he played one of the favorites Shaun Dalitz from Australia but Casey was too sharp tonight and won 4 frames to 1.
Once again another great day of snooker from all our players and tomorrow will finish off the group matches and this is where the real snooker will begin.
