The RIBSA under 21 players had another great day of snooker on Day 4 here in Montreal Canada at the 2011 IBSF World under 21 snooker championships.
Today David Cassidy from Cork had the best ever win of his International career so far when he beat Thanawat Tirapongp from Thailand 4 frames to 1.
To put this fantastic victory into context Thanawat was on the Main tour last season and he has made five centuries in this year’s event so far and he also made a 147 break in a PTC event last season.
Today he came up against a solid Cork man who played his very best snooker with a combination of good beak building and good safety.
David had breaks of 71, 62, 59, 48, 47, 41 in a memorable win and this put him well placed in his group with 4 wins and 2 defeats.
Another Cork man who is in great form is Greg Casey when he won his fifth straight victory in his group beating Mohamed Hamdy from Egypt 4 frames to 2 to top his group.
Vincent Muldoon had two comfortable wins today when he beat from Julius Grauls from Belgium 4 frames to 2 and later he beat Shachar Ruberg from Israel 4 frames to nil to put him top of his group with five straight wins out of five matches.
Jason Devaney hit breaks of 50 and 90 but was beaten by Michael Leslie from Scotland 4 frames to 2. Jason has now 3 wins and 2 defeats in his group and he will need to play some good snooker over the next few days.
Overall it was another great day and I was so happy for David as not many Irish International beat Thailand players in world events. Greg and Vinny are both on a mission to top their groups and Jason is playing good but needs to get some more wins under his belt.
