Day one of the 2011 IBSF World under 21 snooker championships here in Montreal Canada had four wins for our Republic Of Ireland snooker players. David Cassidy from Cork opened the championship for the Irish team with a good 4-1 victory over Bogman Cozmacius from Romania.
Jason Devaney from Mayo then recorded a 4-0 victory over local player Karam Namek from Canada. Vincent Muldoon had a solid win 4-1 victory over Kurt Brown from Australia but the best win of the day was Greg Casey from Cork coming from 1-2 down to beat Indian Champion Varum Madam 4 Frames to 2.
The final match of the day one saw David Cassidy lose 4-1 to Mitchell Travis from England. Overall it was a great day for the Republic of Ireland players and as the National Coach I was very happy to see the players playing with so much confidence in their opening match.
